Our European adventure began in Barcelona, a city bursting with energy, culture, and stunning architecture. We spent our time wandering through the colorful streets, admiring Gaudí's masterpieces, exploring the Gothic Quarter, and enjoying delicious tapas at local cafés.
From Spain, we made our way to Italy's breathtaking Amalfi Coast. Dramatic cliffs, turquoise waters, and picturesque villages created postcard-worthy views around every corner. We explored the winding streets of Positano, enjoyed fresh seafood overlooking the Mediterranean, and took in the beauty of Amalfi and Ravello. The slower pace and stunning scenery made it easy to see why this region is considered one of the most beautiful destinations in the world.

We flew direct from Chicago and landed around 1:00 in the afternoon. We took two taxis to our Airbnb which was beautiful and spacious. The hosts were wonderful and very helpful with reservations and recommendations for the area. We pushed through jetlag and walked outside to see the outside of Sagrada Famillia and grab some food and drinks.

We stopped at Nomad coffee for brunch and beverages and then walked to the famous Park Guell park. This was a very cool experience. It was designed by Gaudi and features very cool architecture and the house where he lived for the last 20 years of his life.
After lunch, we did a guided tour of Sagrada Familia including the Passion Towers. This is something you have to see to understand why it is still not complete since being started in 1882! Note that if you visit you must wear shorts that come below mid-thigh and no see thru or mid drift shirts are allowed.

We did our own walking tour of the historical part of the city, shopping on Las Ramblas and seeing the markets and the architecture of the city. In the afternoon we toured the Cathedral of Barcelona and walked around the different neighborhoods of Barcelona and finished our day at La Pepita for some tapas.

We took an Uber to the Barcelona beaches. Be warned, every beach in Barcelona is a nude beach. This was quite a shock to our kids! We spent a few hours here and then headed back to change and go to our cooking class. This was a highlight of Barcelona and so fun! We did a Paella making class at the Paella Club and couldn’t recommend it enough. They made it super fun and the end dish was delicious!

We headed to the airport and flew to Naples. We immediately jumped on the ferry boat (we purchased tickets in advance) and arrived at Capri Island around 5 p.m. Note – there will be people greeting you offering to take your bags and meet you at your hotel. Do it! We thought it was a scam and our bags would be gone forever, but they had our names from the hotel and instead, we took the funicular up with our bags and walked through pretty far through cobblestone streets – not ideal.
We checked into one of our top five hotels ever – it was incredibly beautiful – Hotel Luna. We booked two rooms pretty far out and you have to stay a minimum of a few nights. It is a pricey hotel, but offered premium experience, staff and breakfast as well as a private pool overlooking the sea.
We had dinner at Panorama Capri and highly recommend it. Their pasta and pizzas were delicious and the views were great.

We toured Capri by boat (a must!). We had a private Gozzo boat for two hours which took us around to parts of the island to swim and relax. After lunch, we headed back and laid by our pool to rest. We ventured through the streets and found a place to grab food and shop. We saw three celebrities that night – Capri is magical after the day boats all leave. The streets are quiet and you can really appreciate the beauty of the island.
If going to Amalfi – you MUST visit Capri and stay overnight!

We did some morning shopping and then took an afternoon ferry to Positano. The city looks like a postcard. We headed to our Airbnb. It was hot and a lot of work so be prepared or just take a private car service if needed. The hosts of the Airbnb were very nice and met us to carry our bags the rest of the way.
We had dinner at La Tagliata – a shuttle from the restaurant will pick you up, but be prepared that they send you home on the public bus so I highly recommend arranging transport on way back as we got sick with all the turns and also lost and ended up getting off to take a taxi. The restaurant is family owned and run and they have their own farm for a lot of the ingredients. Come hungry as the courses never stopped. My son says this was his favorite meal ever.

We spent the day at Ferdinando Beach Club. We reserved in advance, It is a pebble beach that offers lounge chairs, restrooms and restaurants. It is far less glitz and glam than a few others but it was so perfect for us. Very relaxed vibe – we liked it so much we came back for a second day!
We shopped in Positano on way back up to our villa and then had dinner at Sarceno D’oro. Take the funicular up or a taxi! Again, a lot of stairs in Positano!!

We originally were going to do a farm tour at la Masseria farm, but the roads were blocked so we did another beach day! This night, we went to a local market and made homemade pasta in our villa and it was such a fun night!

We took a cab to Conca Dei Marini and checked into our Airbnb. While the views were incredible, there was not a town, per se. A small market was a 20 minute walk and there were a few restaurants. I probably would have stayed elsewhere knowing what I do now.
We had dinner at Le Bonta Del Capo which was great. In fact so great, we ate there the next night as well! ll.

We took a taxi to Amalfi and visited Amalfi Cathedral and shopped. We then took the bus up to Ravello. Wow, I wish we stayed up here for a night or two! The views were amazing!
We visited Villa Cimbrone Gardens and then had lunch at Pizza Guilianas. We walked around Ravello, shopped a bit and then headed back to our villa.
The next morning, we traveled home.
